"Η Μόσχα αγοράζει την κυπριακή οικονομία". Αυτός είναι ο τίτλος ρωσικής εφημερίδας σχετικά με το δάνειο 4δις που είναι έτοιμη να παραχωρήσει στην Κύπρο και είναι ένας τόσο εύστοχος όσο και οδυνηρός τίτλος. Μεγάλο κομμάτι της κυπριακής οικονομίας εξαρτάται από ρωσικά κεφάλαια και μετά από αυτό το δάνειο, το δεύτερο στη σειρά, η εξάρτηση της Κύπρου από την Ρωσία γίνεται κατά τη γνώμη μου υπερβολική.
Σίγουρα η Κύπρος έχει δικαίωμα να δανειστεί από όπου θέλει και όπου βρεί καλίτερους όρους και σίγουρα μια διατήρηση στρατηγικής ισορροπιών μεταξύ ανατολής και δύσης είναι πολύ συνετή εκ μέρους της κυπριακής κυβέρνησης.
Όπως όμως λέχθηκε τις τελευταίες μέρες κανένας δεν δανείζει λεφτά δωρεάν. Η Ρωσία θα μας δανείσει λεφτά στη ζημιά της καθώς τα λεφτά αυτά τα έχει και αυτή δανειστεί με ψηλότερο επιτόκιο, θεωρητικά επειδή επιθυμεί διακαώς να διατηρήσει την οικονομική της αποικία στη ζωή.
Έχω όμως δύο αντιρήσεις:
- Είχα την εντύπωση ότι η Κύπρος είχε επιλέξει στρατόπεδο, αυτό της Ευρωπαϊκής Ένωσης. Ναι μεν διατηρούμε την καλίτερη δυνατή σχέση με την Ρωσία αλλά είμαστε κομμάτι της ΕΕ, για την οποία έχουμε θυσιάσει πολλά και έχουμε ποντάρει ακόμη περισσότερα. Πιστεύουμε στις αρχές της Ευρώπης και στο κεκτημένο, έχουμε εκχωρήσει μεγάλο κομμάτι της κυριαρχίας μας στις Βρυξέλλες και με ενθουσιασμό μπήκαμε στη ευρωζώνη, τον σκληρό πυρήνα της Ευρώπης. Οφείλουμε νομίζω να προσπαθήσουμε να λύσουμε το πρόβλημα, που είναι πρώτιστα ευρωπαϊκό, μέσα από τους μηχανισμούς στους οποίους και εμείς λαμβάνουμε μέρος ως ισότιμο μέλος. Αυτό με φέρνει στη δεύτερη αντίρηση.
- Οι όροι δανειοδότησης από τον Μηχανισμό Στήριξης θα είναι ξεκάθαροι και δημοσιευμένοι ενώ οι όροι δανειοδότησης από την Ρωσία αμφιβάλλω αν θα είναι έτσι. Αμφιβάλλω ότι η Ρωσία θα ξοδέψει λεφτά απλά και μόνο για να διατηρήσει το τραπεζικό μας σύστημα ζωντανό, είμαι σίγουρος ότι έχει και άλλες επιλογές σε αυτό τον τομέα. Υποπτεύομαι ότι οι απαιτήσεις της Ρωσίας θα περιλαμβάνουν θέματα ενέργειας και άμυνας.
Ελπίζω ότι αυτές οι επιλογές πραγματικά να γίνονται με στόχο το καλό της Κύπρου.

Ένα Σχέδιο Αννάν για την Ελλάδα.
Η προεκλογική περίοδος στην Ελλάδα μου θυμίζει έντονα το 2004 στην Κύπρο. Ανυπόφορα διλήμματα τίθενται σήμερα μπροστα στους Έλληνες όπως και τότε μπροστα στους Κύπριους. Πολιτικοί και ΜΜΕ σε ένα πόλεμο χαρακωμάτων όπου η έγκυρη πληροφόρηση και νηφάλια κριτική σκέψη είναι ο κοινός εχθρός. Όλοι κατέχουν την απόλυτη αλήθεια και γνωρίζουν επακριβώς το μέλλον.
Καλύτερα απ'όλα βέβαια γνωρίζουν το ζοφερό και επώδυνο μέλλον που θα ακολουθήσει αν εκλεγεί ο αντίπαλος.
Διχοτόμηση, τουρκοποίηση, αλβανοποίηση, απολύσεις στο δημόσιο, πτώχευση, διακοπές νερού και ηλεκτρισμού, Χρυσαυγίτες, Γκρίζοι Λύκοι, αναρχικοί, ξένοι, κατοχή και το κακό συναπάντημα.
Βλέπω τον ΣΥΡΙΖΑ να πολεμάται με το ίδιο πάθος και τις ίδιες ανήθικες μεθόδους που πολεμήθηκε το Σχέδιο Αννάν και ταυτόχρονα βλέπω στον ΣΥΡΙΖΑ να υπάρχει η πίστη ότι ένα ηχηρό ΟΧΙ στο Μνημόνιο θα σώσει την Ελλάδα από την καταστροφή.
Η ουσία όμως ουδέποτε βρισκόταν στις προεκλογικές εκστρατείες. Η ελληνική πραγματικότητα της μετεκλογικής περιόδου δεν θα είναι οι υποσχέσεις και οι αφορισμοί του σήμερα αλλά το αποτέλεσμα των πράξεων την επόμενης κυβέρνησης.
Το Σχέδιο Αννάν μπορεί πετύχαινε να επανενώσει την Κύπρο μπορεί και να κατέληγε σε έναν ακόμη πόλεμο, αυτό δεν θα το μάθουμε ποτέ. Όπως και το ΟΧΙ θα μπορούσε με καλύτερη διαχείρισή του να έφερνε μια καλή λύση. Αυτό όμως που ξέρουμε και ζούμε και αυτό που θα γράψει η ιστορία είναι πολύ διαφορετικό από τα σλόγκαν του Μάρτη και του Απρίλη του '04...
Το 2004 απέτυχα να προβλέψω το μέλλον (και ευτυχώς πάντα θα αποτυγχάνω).
Αν ήμουν Έλληνας πολίτης θα ψήφιζα σύμφωνα με το ποιά Ελλάδα ονειρεύομαι για το μέλλον και όχι σύμφωνα με το τι ή ποιόν φοβάμαι περισσότερο.

Βάσο,
Είσαι ρε φίλε "καποιος" μες τούτη την κοινωνία. Έκαμες διοικητής τράπεζας τζιαι ξερω-γω τι άλλον. Λεφτά πόλικα. Υπολογίζω τζιαι μια σύνταξη με πενταψήφιο νούμερο.
Γίνεται μια ματσαράγκα τζιαι φκαίννεις να μας πεις πως εν για άλλον Άντρον που λαλεί το σημείωμα τζιαι γίνεσαι γελοίος.
Γιατί;
Ποιόν έσιεις ανάγκην; Εν εσάστηκες; Εν έσασες τα παιθκιά τζιαι τα αγγόνια σου;
Είτε στήριξε τον ρε κουμπάρε τον Άντρον έιτε παραιτήθου.

Huge breakthrough for the Cyprus Problem?
For the past few months a group of people had set up camp in the Ledras/Lokmaci buffer zone. This became part of the worldwide Occupy Movement. More here and here.
Last night (6/4/12) Republic of Cyprus (RoC) riot police and Drug Law Enforcement Unit entered the UN Buffer Zone carrying weapons and raided the building the protesters were squatting in. Twenty-eight persons were taken to the police station and questioned. Most have been released today. According to the police spokesman a small quantity of cannabis, about 1 gram, was found.
The Cypriot Police Force once again ridiculed itself but we are used to that. Actually we have come to expect some amount of hilariousness in every police press release.
The news here is the fact that RoC armed forces entered the UN Buffer Zone and carried out an operation. To my knowledge it was the first time since 1964 when the Green Line was drawn and begun to be manned by UN forces. That implies that the RoC police and its political superiors had prior communication and agreement about the operation with both the UN forces and the Turkish military occupying force. Since we have not heard any complaints from the Turkish-Cypriot administration or the Turkish military I believe we can safely assume that a communication and agreement between the sides did indeed take place.
So there we have it. We can work together. If only there were more kids with weird haircuts and way more joints.

Reverse peace-keeping
The UN peacekeeping forces in Cyprus have asked the people squatting on the Ledras/Lokmaci buffer zone to evict the premises for security and hygiene reasons or someting like that. I went there today and spent about half hour. I felt pretty secure and the place was as clean as it could possibly be under the circumstances; no electricity, no running water, no toilet or kitchen. It was a bit muddy because the protesters embarked on a "Green up the Green Line" project that inevitably included earth being moved around... The people that have actually been living in there for the past couple of months are doing a great job. Just surviving there and hanging on is not easy and that's not all they are doing. They inform passers-by, they organise discussions, screenings or musical events. They have opened up the adjacent shops and are trying to turn them into a kitchen, a library and an exhibition centre. A few days ago the Turkish Cypriot authorities with the help of UNFICYP removed a generator the protesters were using. They are thinking to get pedal-powered generators.
It is the most valid and honest rapprochement effort to ever happen in our country. In my humble opinion it is the most important event that happened to the Cyprus Problem since 1974. These people are practicing what everyone else just likes to muse about and what politicians are saying we should dream about when we vote for them.
So I'm wondering: if the Occupy the Buffer Zone movement gets evicted from the buffer zone who will win? Whose success will it be?
One answer is UNFICYP. They will have successfully "cleaned up" the buffer zone and regained control of it, as is their mandate. But is it? Are the occupiers really a hazard to themselves or to others? No. A visit easily proves this and if you ask me UNFICYP should provide them with adequate means to survive there since they are Cypriot citizens trying to survive in their own country while police and armies are hindering their efforts. Are they likely to cause a military standoff? Erm...No. UNFICYP is doing its best to avoid responsibility and keep the politicians on both sides happy. Removing Occupy will not be "Peacekeeping" in any remotely imaginable way and definetely not a success for the UN.
Will it be a success for Mr Eroglu or Mr Christofias? I don't feel I need to argue this. Any sensible person would expect the two people allegedly trying to solve the CyProb to be the biggest supporters of the OBZ. Istead they ignore it. It's kind of understandable coming from the nationalist Eroglu but truly baffling coming from the Marxist-Leninist Christofias.
An eviction would be a success only for the system that created the Green Line and needs it to continue being there. Unfortunately this system includes all the political forces on both sides plus armies in Cyprus and outside it. And I am not afraid to say it: this system includes the great majority of the inhabitants of Cyprus. If that were not so the Green Line would have gone the way of the Berlin Wall already.
Our friends at Occupy the Buffer Zone are fighting a losing battle. The weird thing is that they will not be the losers. The rest of us will be.
